The fastest, easiest way to make a GoBag

Our intention is to help you have a complete emergency kit – your “GoBag” or “Bug Out Bag” – so it’s ready when you need it.

My name is Richard Miles. I live in Gaborone, Botswana with my wife Michelle, our rescue dog Maddie and our two crazy rescue cats Trubbo and Grey Kitty. Michelle is a physician who specializes in HIV/AIDS and works in public health. Before moving here in 2016 we lived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for 4 1/2 years, and before that we lived in northern California. We’re both native Californians. We know from experience that sometimes you have to be ready to go at a moment’s notice.

We’ve lived through earthquakes our entire lives, and our house in California sits in the Oakland Hills fire zone, right on the Hayward fault. It’s not a question of “if,” it’s a question of “when” the Big One will hit. Many of our dear friends in California just lived through fire and flood and few of them lost everything. Living in Africa we know at any minute we could be without power, in the middle of some interesting times, and we need to be ready to go.

We have been repeatedly encouraged to put together an emergency kit (often called a”go-bag” or “bug-out bag”.) And we know we should do it. But it’s kind of a hassle. Even though we live overseas we are very lucky to be able to order products from Amazon and get them shipped to us. But going on Amazon searching for emergency supplies and pre-made emergency kits very quickly turns into product overwhelm. What should I buy? There are 40-100 choices (or more) for every single thing I need. Going online to figure out what we need to buy makes my eyes glaze over.

Don’t let overwhelm stop you.

Overwhelm turns to procrastination. Getting our gobag together turns into a to-do item. And that to-do item keeps getting pushed back. And someday someone’s going to knock on our door and say we have to get out now and we aren’t going to be prepared.

I was at a recent meeting where once again we were encouraged to put an emergency GoBag kit together. They had lots of handouts and suggestions for what we should have. And I thought, wouldn’t it be great if I could put these kits together and offer them to my friends? And that way they could go from feeling guilty that they hadn’t got it done to sleeping well at night knowing it was handled.

But then I thought it would be ridiculous to buy all these products, ship them to Africa, assemble them, and then pay to ship them out to people all over the world. And I also realized that all these products are already available at great prices on Amazon.

Let’s Go!Bags was born. Our motto is Go Fast – Stay Safe.

Take advantage of all the time I put into reading articles about what you do and don’t need in an emergency kit. Take advantage of the hours I spent reviewing detailed product specifications and reading user comments and reviews. The products listed on the site are the ones I personally bought for us after all my research. And I figured my extra value-add was making it easy for you to simply buy these products from the world’s biggest online retailer and get them shipped to you. I’m not paid by any manufacturer and I only recommend products I truly believe in. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

So be happy I did all the heavy lifting, go through and read my reviews, download the Emergency Plan and checklist I put together, and then order what you need. Just get it done so you can go fast and stay safe.

And it wouldn’t hurt if you told all your friends about this.

I have a US phone number which rings here at 510-775-2218 (although I am in Africa, so check your time zone) and I’m ready to answer you by email or What’sApp. My WhatsApp number is +267-76-587194. I stand behind everything on this site and I look forward to hearing from you. Do me a favor and let me help.

Good luck, and stay safe!
